March12th Road Ride

March 12th Road Ride

Seeing as how I worked all weekend, and the weather was supposed to be delightful today, I decided to get in a long ride to test my legs a bit. First, however, it's important to get fueled right...... coffee and a donut at Sips!

Then on down Main street and turn right at the park......

Photobucket

Usually, you see a bunch of senior citizens sitting there chatting, but not today. On down the road is this old relic from the past. Hard to see on this photo, but the lot runs kitty-corner to the street and they built the building that way too, it's not square.

From there, down through Tecumseh, and right on down Main Street...

Where there was a shop that Teesiea would like........

Out of town on the old highway headed south into a 15-18mph headwind all the way. I actually planned it that way figuring I'd get a wonderful tailwind all the way back. Didn't exactly work out that way, but the thought kept me going. Headed down the main highway for a bit (U.S. 177) until I came to the cut-off for old highway 18. Continued south on that down to the old iron bridge. Remember, on the last ride down that way I didn't have my camera and was complaining about the county denuding the old bridge? Well......here it is, in all it's naked glory!

Now, they are tearing up the trees and ditch on the one side...... looks like they are going to make a detour while they replace the bridge. Another piece of history lost. Why is it, after coming all this way and not seeing a single car going in either direction, and thinking it should be OK to pee......Rush Hour! After I left there, I continued south to Hwy 59 and saw this old relic, the house and plow go well together.

Then, it's east on Hwy 59 to the metropolis of St. Louis.

Photobucket

I know, a lot of you have seen that picture before, but here it is again. As well as downtown St. Louis.......

Photobucket

And, even though I wanted to get a shot of the St. Louis Rams....... this was the best I could do......caught them during lunch time even......

Photobucket

This next picture is for ThisLife if she pops on here........

Photobucket

I continued east today instead of turning south again to Sacred Heart, and headed for the little town of Maud, Ok.

Photobucket

Hmmmmmm speed checked by radar.......Should I slow down....or speed up?

Photobucket

Then finally turning back north and with the wind........NOT! Somehow the wind had switched around to come mostly from the west. Not a headwind, but not the tailwind I had expected either.
They were all curious as to who was the cowboy on that white and red funny looking horse......

Photobucket
Early Spring wildflowers were everywhere. A delight to see after a dreary, dead looking winter.

And finally.......if you've ever had some of that nagging mud that you just can't quite seem to get rid of....... doesn't every State have one of these?

Photobucket

From there, it was north through Earlsboro, and country roads back home. Made a turn on Kings road to go across the old wooden bridge that I've shown you on several rides, and there was a big barricade blocking the road and saying "Road Closed, Bridge Out"....... and so, another one bites the dust. By the time I had gotten home, the odometer read 71 miles, my stomach gauge read "empty", and my power source was running on it's last legs. Time for dinner!
